Born in London and based in Belfast, Hix is generally considered as one of the finest club-rockin’ DJs to ever come out of this part of the world. At the turn of 2011, the nominees for Best DJ for the Fate Awards were announced, and for the fourth year running, Hix has been voted again by the public as one of the top 5 DJs in all music genres, receiving more votes than any other urban party DJ, which simply confirms his position as the number one urban party DJ here.

Hix’s electrifying club performances are what sets him apart. Blazing his way through an explosion of genres and sounds, his quick-fire mixing, cutting and scratching ignites every venue he plays. From intimate fashionista style-bars to mammoth concert stadiums, he is renowned for captivating every crowd he plays to.

Hix has performed with some of the world’s biggest recording superstars, worked with the hottest new artists, and shared the bill with the finest DJs in the business, including… Rihanna, 50 Cent, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Akon, Example, Rev Run, Lloyd Banks, Boyz II Men, Calvin Harris, DJ Cash Money, DJ Premier, DJ Chuckie, Clinton Sparks, Fatboy Slim, Rhymefest, Ryan Leslie, Fatman Scoop… to name just a few…

The lightening-quick rise of his club career has now been matched within his radio career. He is the first and only urban DJ from Ireland to ever have had a schedule show on national UK radio, broadcasting on the mighty BBC 1Xtra – home of Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Mistajam, Ronnie Herel and more. After they spotted him performing in a club in Belfast, he was asked for a demo by some of the high-ranking producers at 1Xtra, and this resulted in them inviting him to present the Xtra Talent slot, a privilege given only to those that 1Xtra feel are the new voices of UK radio.

It was a 2hour slot every Monday morning, lasting for 1 month, and despite the fact that this was Hix’s radio debut, 1Xtra were so impressed by that they invited him back for a second and then a third month, making him the first person ever to do this. The strong bond with 1Xtra continues, and he can be seen spinning at some of their hot live events, most recently at the 1Xtra Comic Relief party at a secret location in the heart of London. He is also BBC 1Xtra’s official Ireland correspondent and contributor.

His experience at BBC 1Xtra allowed him to develop into a supremely competent broadcaster, and just a few months later, Cool FM – Northern Ireland’s leading music station – offered him his own show.The Urban Takeover showcases the hottest HipHop, RnB, Soul, Dancehall and UK Funky, and airs every Friday night between 9pm-12midnight.
Then, in June 2010, Cool FM approached Hix about hosting another brand new show, which would see him move to 5 days a week on the station. The Pulse is dedicated to the hottest freshest new cutting-edge music from all the genres. Whether it’s Rock, HipHop, House, RnB, Electro, Pop, Indie, Dubstep, Dance, Drum & Bass or anything in between… if it’s good, is covered! Music that you know, and music that you’ll get to know… that’s the motto of the show.

The pace at which DJ Hix’s career continues to rise is increasing by the day. 2010 was a phenomenal year for Hix – moving to 5 days a week on the radio, performing with some of the biggest stars in the music business, and rocking the hottest clubs in the land… and 2011 is set to see him reach even more new heights, with some really exciting things on the way!
