Trey Songz Releases Epic New Video

Check out the video for “Yo Side Of The Bed” by Trey Songz, which guest stars Keri Hilson.

This is really powerful. The song is solid,  but this video really brings the track into it’s own.
A very strong performance from both Songz & Hilson, and a real powerful message – a nice alternative to the standard HipHop/RnB music video.

Definitely worth a watch…

Unreleased MJ Song: This Is It

[brightcove vid=44134648001&exp3=10172910001&surl=http://c.brightcove.com/services&pubid=59121&w=486&h=412]

I’m sure most of you have heard this already, but in case you haven’t, this “new” Michael Jackson song was premiered on MichaelJackson.com at 4am UK time on Monday morning.

I’ll talk more about this on my show on Friday, but here’s a few thoughts for now…

I like this song. It’s real smooth, it’a got a real nice vibe and bounce to it.
But it’s not new. It’s a previously unreleased track, that never quite made an album. Which is why I’m calling it an “Unreleased MJ Song” rather than a “new” MJ song that a lot of people are calling it.

It really is very obvious that this is an old song.
The word is, it was written in 1980, and was recorded for one of Michael’s earlier albums – some say it was recorded for Dangerous, others say it was recorded for Off The Wall – but whichever the case, it never made it on to an album.
So we have to be clear that this is not a new Michael Jackson single. The record company have said they are not going to release it as a stand-alone single, but rather as one of the songs on the soundtrack album for the movie This Is It.

So this is merely an unreleased Michael song which we’ve never heard before, which happens to tie-in nicely with the release of the movie (which I’m super-hyped to see by the way!)
And much as I like this song and I’m glad to hear stuff from MJ I’ve never heard before, I’m faaaaaarrr more interested to hear the real new stuff! The material he was working on with Akon, Will.i.am, Ne-Yo etc for his new album, the unreleased tracks from the last few years, even the studio stuff from the Invincible album.

That’s what I wanna hear!
But I guess for now, This Is It will do just fine…

Bring on the movie!

Happy Birthday B.B. King!

We need to respect our Legends while they are still with us, and not just all of a sudden appreciate them when they are gone.

So to one of my all-time musical heroes, who inspired me as a young kid playing the guitar, Happy Birthday B.B. King, who’s 84 today.
Grab Lucille and play that 12bar my man, and do it for many years to come!

Happy Birthday BB King
